Do I require an official handicap to play golf in Phuket?

• No proof of handicap is required to play golf at any golf course in Phuket.

Do Phuket golf courses require a dress code?

• Standard golf dress code applies at all golf courses in Phuket as well as to the non-golfer who may be joining you.
• For Men: Collared shirts, Bermuda style shorts, tailored or golf pants, polo shirts, socks, good quality sport runner or soft spike golf shoes.
• For Women: Tailored pants, shorts, culottes, skirts & blouse or polo t-shirts with collars, good quality sport runner or soft spike golf shoes.
• Not permitted: cut-offs, non-collared shirts, jeans, gym shorts, flip-flops, sandals, tank tops, denims, mini-shorts or mini-skirts, tights, low cut tops.
• (Not permitted attire is strictly upheld and guests will be refused play if they appear at the golf course in improper dress)

Can I rent golf clubs at the Phuket golf courses?

• All golf courses in Phuket provide men’s & ladies right & left-hand golf clubs for rent.
• Range of pricing is 1,200-2,000 Baht based on golf course and golf club make and model.
• You can rent full sets as well as individual clubs and even a golf bag.
• Guests are not permitted to share their golf clubs or a rented set of clubs. Each guest must have their own set.

How far in advance should I book my Phuket tee-times?

• During the high season from November to end of March it is highly recommended to book your tee-times 2 months in advance for 4 or less to get the times you prefer. For more than 4 we recommend 2-3 months in advance. Large groups of 12 or more should try to book tee times a minimum of 3 months in advance during high season.
• During the peak season from mid-December to mid-January it is common for the popular golf courses to be booked up 4-5 days straight. During these times try to book your golf in advance. You can always make changes later without charge.
• During the low season there is much more flexibility for bookings as there are less golfers. We still recommend booking in advance but not as critical.

Which golf courses in Phuket have golf carts & what are the rules for cart hire/use?

What is an appropriate tip for golf caddies in Phuket?

• Most golf courses range from 400-500 baht for recommended compulsory caddy tip. Each golf course pro-shop will usually post a sign advising the correct amount.
• 9-hole golf caddy tip would be 250-300 baht.
• Payment to caddy in Thai Baht cash after golf.

What is the maximum number of golfers in one flight?

• All golf courses in Phuket are maximum 4 golfers per flight except Loch Palm GC which permits 5 in one flight if all rent golf carts.

Will Green Fees be refunded if it rains?

All golf courses have rain check policy that comes into effect once you have started playing golf except for Phuket Country Club and Blue Canyon GC’s.

• Phuket Country Club: Do not provide rain check voucher. Golf must be completed same day.
• Blue Canyon Country Club Lakes & Canyon GC’s: Do not provide rain check voucher. Golf must be completed same day.
• Loch Palm Golf Club: Less than 5 holes played, golf course will issue 18 hole voucher. Less than 14 holes, golf course will issue 9 hole voucher. 14 holes or more played, no voucher.
• Red Mountain Golf Club: Less than 5 holes played, golf course will issue 18 hole voucher. Less than 14 holes, golf course will issue 9 hole voucher. 14 holes or more played, no voucher.
• Laguna Golf Phuket: Less than 4 holes played, golf course will issue 18 hole voucher. Less than 9 holes, golf course will issue 9 hole voucher. 9 holes or more played, no voucher.
• Mission Hills Golf Resort: Less than 3 holes played, golf course will issue 18 hole voucher. 3 holes or more played, no voucher.
• Katathong Golf Course: Less than 6 holes played, golf course will issue 18 hole voucher. Less than 9 holes, golf course will issue 9 hole voucher. 9 holes or more played, no voucher.
• Aquella Golf & Country Club: TBA
• Rain check applies to green fee only. Guests do not get refunded for Caddy Fee, Golf Carts or 2-Way Transfers.

Can I cancel my golf without any charges?

• 24-hour notice required for golf cancellations not weather related. No charge.
• If you cancel the same day before we pick you up due to weather no charge.
• If you cancel after we pick you up but before you start play, there is a 2-way transfer fee only.
• If you start playing and then weather interrupts your play, please see greens fees refunded above if it rains.

Golf Payment:

• Preferred payment is in advance on-line with credit card using our secure Flywire payment app.
• Secondly, you may pay our driver each day upon arrival at the golf course in Thai Baht Cash or Visa & Mastercard credit cards if you do not wish to pay in advance.
• Guests with large groups playing multiple rounds who wish to pay in person are recommended to pay 2 rounds at a time to reduce delays with individual payments each round.
• Our drivers carry portable credit card machines and payment may be made in Thai Baht cash or Master Card & Visa Credit Cards. Amex is not accepted.

Phuket International Airport Arrivals/Meet & Greet:

• If we are picking you up at the Phuket International Airport, you will exit the airport through Gate #2 and look for a person holding a sign with your name on it. Once located, they will advise you to wait in a designated area while the driver retrieves the transport vehicle, which takes 5-10 minutes.

Scheduling the Daily Golf Course Pickups & Transfers in Phuket:

• Our drivers will arrive at your hotel 5 minutes prior to scheduled pickup times for transport to the golf course.
• Upon arrival at the golf course the driver will drop you off at the bag drop area, assist in unloading golf clubs, then quickly park the vehicle.
• Golf Bags get dropped at the bag drop areas and the caddies will take your clubs from the bag drop to the starter area. Please be sure to remove things you may require prior to playing golf from your bag before it is taken by the caddies. (Phone, shoes, wallet etc as you may need those items before getting to the starter area)
• Caddies are randomly assigned in order of their last jobs. Whichever caddy takes your clubs is the caddy you will have for the day.
• Caddies can be pre-booked at some golf courses in advance. If you have played with a certain caddy in the past and you know her caddy number you can request that caddy when you book your golf before arriving at the golf courses. No guarantee she will be available, but we can try to book her.
• Once you have paid the driver for your golf, the driver then pays for your green fees and carts and will hand you the tickets. These are taken to the starter area prior to your start time.
• Please inform your driver what time you wish to be picked up and the driver will stand by the bag drop area at that time. If you plan to have a drink and food after golf please factor that in to your pickup time. Most rounds of golf in Phuket take 3-4 hours depending on the guests and course played.
• The 2-way transfers is from hotel to golf course to hotel. If guests wish to arrange stops for food, drinks, shopping, a trip to a restaurant, all arrangements must be made in advance and approved by our business manager due to scheduling. The drivers often do 2-3 jobs during the day and may not have time for side trips if not approved by the manager in advance.
• Lastly, please check that you have your phone and your hat before leaving the mini-bus or car. Many have been left behind.

General Questions asked about Travel or Golf in Phuket

What is the best time to travel to Phuket?

• Best times with less chance of rain and cooler temperatures is the high season from early November to late March.
• Good times to come to get discounted golf & hotel rates is April,May,June. Little bit more rain but usually quote nice and big hotel discounts.
• Take note of certain holidays in Phuket that affect both pricing and traffic.
• Chinese Newyear will often see hotel prices increase 20-40%.
• Songkran (Water Festival) is a fun time to visit Phuket with the water fights, but trying to play golf on that day can be extremely challenging as cars cannot move. Avoid booking golf on that day.

Can I book hotel & Villa/accommodations in Phuket with Phuket Golf Leisure?

• If you choose to book your own accommodations, we are always happy to recommend best areas and hotels around Phuket based on your interests.
• We highly recommend trying to book a Villa at least 8 month’s to a year in advance and to book your hotel minimum 4 month’s in advance if traveling from Nov-Feb due to high volume.

Where are the best beaches in Phuket?

• Best beaches in Phuket are located all along the west coast of Phuket from Mai Khao to Naiharn.
• Expect stunning soft sand beaches and warm water fabulous for tanning and swimming.

Low Season Swimming:

• Please respect life-guard flags and warnings during the low season. Often, partial or full closures of Phuket Beaches come into effect during stormier days due to strong undertows. The lifeguards will mark off portions of the beach for no swimming, and this should be strongly adhered to. Under-tows can be very dangerous. 

Do I need a Visa to enter Thailand?

• Most countries do not require a Visa to enter Thailand for less than 30 days. Visa’s can also be acquired upon arrival.
• For trips longer than 30 days it is recommended you sort your visa requirements out at least 30 days prior to departure to make sure you get all forms filled out correctly and processed.

How can I arrange a sim card for my Phuket trip?

• You can get a Thai sim card from several different vendors in the Airport before exiting and you can also get them at 7-11’s etc. We recommend the Airport as they are fast and efficient and do it all for you.

Where can I exchange money in Phuket?

• Exchange a small amount in the Airport when you arrive. You get less for your money but good to have a little bit of Thai cash when you arrive. After that, source out the exchange booths around your hotel area and get prices from several different exchange booths before you decide. They are not all the same rates.
